Description
The descent develops on one of three paths of the Saben Trail Area, which descend on the left side of Valle Gesso ridge, going up, with south exposure, unlike all other trails that extend on Valle Stura right side, going up, with north exposure. Also, together with Ginepro trail, (not marked and not present on the Fraternali Mtb Valle Stura map) it is the most difficult descent of the area, while having, as the other trails, a 99% smooth and compact terrain, almost never stony and uneven. To reach the start of the downhill trail, starting from Piano Quinto, we take the road that leads from Borgo San Dalmazzo to Tetto Pilone but, arrived in the village of Sant’Antonio di Aradolo, near the church, we turn sharply left with a tight hairpin, and we reach the repeater antennas a little higher. Our trail starts here. The trail does not have many difficulties at the beginning, but it will become increasingly steep and insidious, with the climax at the final part, that is extreme. The arrival of the first descent of this tour is located on the Valle Gesso road, just before Madonna Bruna (hamlet pertaining to Borgo S.D.) at the sign saying “Real Park”. It is a really complex trail: slopes up to fall-over limits and tight curves, especially in the last stretch, with alternated dry or muddy terrain, recommended only for the most experienced and trained bikers!
The tour continues in the direction to Valdieri on the main road and, after 200 meters, we leave it to turn right to the inhabited area of Madonna Bruna, then we climb, first on asphalt and then on a gravel road, to Tetto Pilone, from where we will use a part of MONTE CROCE ENDURO tour for coming back to Piano Quinto.
All the paths are frequented by hikers on foot, pay attention especially on descents: THE PEDESTRIAN ALWAYS HAS THE RIGHT OF WAY.
